XPairwise

Safety & Privacy

XPairwise is privacy-first and does not take custody of funds. This page explains exactly what that means in practice.

What XPairwise does

XPairwise matches people with complementary cross-border currency needs based on compatibility, trust, and verification level, and lets you communicate privately once you both accept a match.

What XPairwise does not do

XPairwise is a matching and information service. It connects people with complementary cross-border currency needs but does not receive, hold, convert, transmit, or settle funds. XPairwise does not set, calculate, quote, negotiate, or guarantee transaction rates or terms. Participants communicate privately and handle any transaction independently.

Information we collect

Display name, email or phone, an 18+ self-attestation (a checkbox and timestamp — never a birthdate), country of residence, your matching request (currencies and amount), languages, and communication platform.

If you complete identity verification, we retain the resulting verification status (for example, "University Affiliation — Verified") rather than the underlying document, subject to our retention practices — see our Privacy Policy for specifics.

Information we never request

We never ask for your bank details, payment credentials, or the transaction terms you've privately agreed to. Government ID, when you choose that verification path, is submitted directly to our verification vendor's own hosted flow — XPairwise's own systems never receive the document itself. The vendor's exact data handling and retention is a vendor-contract matter we're finalizing with counsel, not something we'll overstate here.

Identity verification

Verification is optional — it's never required to use XPairwise. Additional verification may increase available account limits. You can verify with an affiliation email, a vouch code from an existing user, a linked account, or government ID, or skip it and match at a base limit.

Private communication

Your communication handle is never shown to anyone before you both accept a match. Once you do, your approved communication method is disclosed to your match only.

Trust and reliability

Trust scores are designed to reflect accumulated evidence rather than simply counting activity. New accounts start conservatively, and scores become more informative as behavioral evidence accumulates.

Individual peer reviews and private comments are never shown to anyone, including the person you matched with — only aggregate scores are visible.

Reporting and blocking

You can report a concern or block a user from a match or their profile at any time. Reports factor into risk monitoring independently of your visible trust score.

Account security

Sign-in uses a one-time code sent to your email — there's no password to leak or reuse elsewhere.

Data deletion

You can request account deletion or a copy of your data at any time by contacting support.

Sanctions and geographic restrictions

Some countries, currencies, or requests may be unavailable because of legal, sanctions, or risk restrictions. Where possible we explain the restriction in plain language rather than silently hiding it, and eligibility is re-checked at the moment a match is proposed — not just trusted from when you first submitted a request.
