Privacy Policy
Draft, pending legal review — this describes our actual current data practices, not final binding legal text.
Information we collect
Account: display name, email, and (only if you choose a communication platform that needs it) phone number.
Matching data: country of residence, the currencies and amount you're matching on, where funds are available and needed, languages, and communication platform.
Age: a checkbox and timestamp confirming you're 18+ — never a birthdate, and never asked for one.
Verification: the resulting verification status only (for example, "University Affiliation — Verified"). We don't keep the underlying document or credential, subject to our retention practices below.
Behavioral: completed matches, response/completion rates, and the structured feedback you and your matches submit about each other.
How we use it
To find and rank compatible counterparts, to compute your trust and reliability scores, to enforce sanctions and eligibility rules, and to operate your account (sign-in, notifications about your requests and matches).
We do not use your data to set, calculate, or influence any transaction terms — those are discussed privately between you and your match, entirely outside XPairwise.
What we never collect
Bank account or payment credentials, or the transaction terms you've privately agreed to. For government ID verification, the ID document is submitted directly to our verification vendor's own hosted flow — XPairwise's own systems never receive the document itself. The exact scope of what our vendor retains is governed by our vendor agreement, which we're finalizing with counsel.
Retention
We retain the resulting verification status rather than the underlying document, subject to our retention practices — the specific retention period will be set out in the final, attorney-reviewed version of this policy.
A vouch code is consumed once used; the referral relationship is kept for fraud-graph monitoring, not to identify you to anyone.
Individual peer reviews and private comments are retained for trust-scoring purposes but are never shown to anyone, including the person you matched with.
Who we share it with
We don't sell your data. It's shared only with the service providers needed to run XPairwise — our identity-verification vendor (only for users who choose that path) and email delivery — and with your match, but only the specific fields listed in How It Works as visible after mutual acceptance. If XPairwise introduces paid features, we'll update this policy to describe the payment provider and information involved before any payment information is collected.
Cookies & tracking
We use your browser's local storage to hold an in-progress matching request before you have an account, so nothing you type is lost or re-typed. We don't use advertising trackers or sell browsing data.
Your rights
You can request a copy of your data or request account deletion at any time by contacting support.
